How many people who work in the private sector are not getting ANY govt dollars? How many are doing contract work for the govt? How many have customers who are doing contract work for the govt? How many cater to people who work for the govt?
Not as easy to say, “I work for the private sector and receive NO benefits from the public sector,” as one might think. I’ll bet that if we dig around enough, we’ll find that almost everyone is the recipient of taxpayer dollars at some level.
We won’t even get into the details of the taxpayer-funded physical, legal, and social infrastructure that enables everyone else to focus on work instead of having to focus on survival. Then there are the benefits received from having our taxpayer-funded military keep sea lanes open and protect us from those who would gladly take our resources if we weren’t protected. They enforce embargoes against our “enemies,” too (and our businesses often benefit greatly as a result). Of course, we’ve all benefitted from the cheap oil, courtesy of the taxpayers…but nobody ever admits to all the benefits THEY receive from the govt. It’s always “somebody else” who is the parasite.
