How bad the noise will be depends on the neighbor above. I’ve rented apartments where the place above had hard wood floors and had to break the lease because their kids chased each other around the house for hours at a time. I’ve known others that have had similar problems. Keep in mind that even if the current neighbor above is quiet, they could always move away and a bad neighbor could move in. If it was up to me, I’d wait until I found a unit on the top floor if you think there’s a chance of that at all.
