Good thoughts. I know that for me, northern cali is not warm enough. The exception being san jose. Santa barbara is beautiful, but also colder than I am looking for. Coronado has a different planting zone than the rest of san diego so I am thinking that it is significantly warmer there year round. My biggest concern is the “vibe” at the different areas. Sounds like La jolla is too arrogant, del mar has the right mix, rancho santa fe also has golf but coronado intrigues me since it is fairly isolated, is similar to my area of great falls VA, is warm and seems to have the mom and pop stores that we both like. I am hoping that my wife, born in iran, will eventually fall in love with cali and move full time there. Hopefully, my income will be in passive and portofio income, reducing my exposure to earned income taxes.
