GM came out with the hummer the same day they killed their electric car. Oh, the irony, being that they did this as we were running into the world production peak of oil. We actually don’t need more cars especially internal combustion engines. To put another way, if demand somehow persisted with the types of cars we were buying oil would get to an unmanageable and default mania would have hit us without this “crisis”.
Toyota is actually “peak” aware., whereas GM at least pretended like it did not exist.
Irv Miller, vice president of Toyota Motor Sales USA. “It was a brief glimpse of our future. We must address the inevitability of peak oil by developing vehicles powered by alternatives to liquid-oil fuel.”
They’re just keeping those people employed so we don’t have guerilla warfare in Detroit.
