I remember being 9 years old and my grandfather being hassled in Lemon Grove so don’t make out like AZ is the bad guy and no other state has similar practices. We are both from AZ. The biggest problem is that the Federal Government does not enforce the border to the level that they had promised. AZ in took it upon themselves to protect the border and of course in true AZ fashion were overzealous. You would understand where the zeal comes from if you lived there. There are real issues in the state related to the lack of border enforcement and it has nothing to do with racism or jobs.
Blame the Feds. If they had done what they were supposed to be doing and actually enforcing the laws they enacted then AZ would have never went down that path.
Also, I support the rights of states to enact their laws as long as they are constitutional. I am for gay marriage however I respected the ideal that if a state does not want to legalize it then that is their option. Of course I am completely against the idea of making it a enduring constitutional amendment but overall the idea of states making and enforcing their own laws are part of the federalist system.
Don’t like it… stay out of AZ. Vote with your dollar.
