I have not heard Trump say that the would seize remittances lately.
He implies however that we have trade deficits with Mexico and China and we will somehow not pay them unless they do what we want. And according to Trump, they will be “thrilled” to submit.[/quote]I’ll try to find the link, FIH. I believe he said it in either OH or NH (or both). It was recent. That is his “leverage” with MX, among other things. He also proposed that MX be compelled to send the US a list of their felons so we can vet them at the time of their application for a visa.
He doesn’t plan for the US to “seize” the remittances. Trump proposes to prohibit US banks from processing them. Not sure about his plans for prohibiting the mailing of money orders. MO’s represent over half or more of all the remittances regularly sent to MX.
