EPA fines could make them insolvent. It’s a per barrel spilled fine. Depending on how that is quantified and whether or not it is gross negligence, could make it billions a month.
If I was another oil major, I would be all over this preparing. I’m sure they already are if the have deemed it feasible and have back room deals already in motion.
