Do you mean that supporting Trump is a violation of the First Amendment? On the contrary, I only saw the Trump protesters trying to use violence against the supports to scare them away.
Let me share my perspective that why I support Trump.
I came from China and lived in the country side of the socialism country at my childhood. I remember that my family could not get sufficient food and warm clothes through the cold winter. And we were very grateful the the government assistance we received. As Deng Xiaoping became the leader of the country, he started to reform the economy to a market based one. We got panic when hearing about it. We thought we couldn’t survive as the government assistance went away. We were so used to being taken care of by our government that we don’t believe in our capability of surviving on our own.
Everyone now knows that the changes turn out much better than we expected. In the process, people got rewarded by working hard and got punished by their bad behaviors. I fortunately managed to be able to attend a top university in China, came to USA for graduate school and then took a job in software engineer. Most of my childhood classmates/friends was not able to go to college. Most of them dropped out of middle school and entered the work force as construction workers, or factory workers. I recently reconnected with many of them via WeChat, a popular social platform in China. Many of them are now doing very well as small business owner, construction contractors, electrical factory partners. These are the average guys and they are having a similar life style to folks here. I know them very well and they don’t get external assistance along the way.
As legal immigrants through H1b, we have to make sure to keep a job without a gap. When the companies lay off, we needed to make sure we find the next job in a week or 2. Otherwise, we were ready to pack up and go back to China. The H1bs pay all the federal, state income tax and social securities like others. But if they leave the country, they get nothing back. It took us 7 to 10 years to get a green card. The process is long and we earned the green card. When democrats were proposing to provide a citizen path to the illegal immigrants, it is unfair to all the legal immigrants.
With the observations, I generally believe in small government, competition by merit. On the other hand, I view the last decade of America is going to the wrong direction. Liberals in California are trying to make government do more and more. And the generous welfare programs will attract more illegal immigrants as free riders. They are trying to implement affirmative action in college admissions, private sectors. Everything about political correctness is not questionable. I personally do not feel that America is not the great country I would like to immigrate to. Trump is the only candidate that has the courage to speak out this. Everyone else is promoting or following the progressive agenda.
Personally, I have been a green card holder for 5 years. I am eligible to apply for US citizen this year. I was waiting for this day very long time and would apply for it soon enough. But now I actually want to hold off my citizen application because I think that the country goes to the wrong direction.
