Del Mar Mesa is quite a step up. There are large very nice homes all around The Grande golf course but you will find the lots very tight compared to The Ranch. A little further out you will find a nice neighborhood built by Davidson (Bouganvilla) on larger lots but expect to pay closer to $2M. It is also a much smaller community and lacks the real neighborhood feel you find in The Ranch. If you want a feel like that the only thing close in my opinion is Fairbanks Ranch which is an even bigger step up.
