Many people feel that this “Hispanification of the American West and, California in particular” isn’t unstoppable, nor is it something that needs to be embraced. While a variety of cultures might be embraced, when one particular culture overwhelms a country over a short period of time, problems are bound to occur. If that new “majority” culture encourages behavior that is deemed to be agressive or threatening toward the existing culture, you’re going to get a culture war. That is the only thing that is guaranteed here.
Illegal immigration is **illegal** for some very good reasons. We cannot have unchecked immigration from poor countries where a disproportionate number of these immigrants engage in violent/criminal activity. We cannot have unchecked immigration if the existing taxpayers are expected to pay for the immigrants’ (and their childrens’) educations, housing, physical and social infrastructure, food, legal expenses (including prison expenses), etc. There is a limit to what we can afford to give to everyone from outside of our own country (some would argue we can’t even take of our own citizens).[/quote]
