I’ll bet it has way more to do with the fact that we didn’t have home computers and there were no video games “back in the good ol’ days.” We had a handful of channels on TV, and you had to get up to turn the knob and change the channel. Kids were also allowed (even forced!!!) to go outside and play all day — and they did so without any parental supervision.
From what I can remember of my childhood, we ate at least as much crap then as kids do now. I’d even say we probably ate worse — white Wonder bread and bologna sandwiches with “pasturized, processed American cheese food substitute” (A.K.A.: American cheese), and a layer of mayonnaise , anyone? Finish that off with some of that Hawaiian punch (from concentrate), and we were back to playing.

You nailed it CAR. We all heard of diet AND exercise. Without exercise, all you have is yo-yo diet. We all know that never work. Controlling sweet w/out controlling fat/calories intake is pointless.
Brian, try comparing active people in the 60s vs active people today. I think active people today are more fit. They can run faster, jump higher, swim faster, etc. Have you seen pro cheerleaders in the 60s vs pro cheerleaders today? My cousins today who are in high school are around 5’5″ and they probably weigh around 90-95 lb right now. They eat plenty of food (including junk food).
