Brian: Perry might well prove to be a formidable candidate. While I personally don’t agree with his religious convictions, he’s a successful third-term governor in one of America’s largest states. Moreover, rightly or wrongly, Texas is being held up as an example of the “right” way to run a state and it has been a jobs-creation engine as of late.
Much of the criticism about Obama centers on his lack of leadership and his lack of experience in running either a state or a business. Correct or not, much of it has stuck and he’s confronting serious grumblings within the Democratic Party over this.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Its all about JOBS. If the economy picks up over the next year, this will be a very different discussion. Right now, Obama’s flank is dangerously exposed on this issue. Whether or not its his fault is immaterial. As Harry S. Truman famously said, “The buck stops here”.
