Really? Where do you get your 45% number from? Based on salary.com, it’s more like 10-20% salary increase and if you compare apple to apple for housing, the housing price is more like 50%+. In SD, if you work in high tech (job in Sorrento Valley), you have option of Mira Mesa. How much is a 2000 sq-ft house on a 5000 sq-ft lot w/in 10-15 door to door commute up there? If you work in law/finance and work in downtown, you have option of Chula Vista here. How much is a 3000+ sq-ft house on a 6000-7000 sq-ft lot w/in 15-20 min door to door commute up there? BTW, MM and Chula are not the ghetto with horrible schools. You have to have comparable areas up there where the API scores for those schools have to be 8+ as well.
