As much as I loved Carlin it was today that I heard my favorite Carlin quote. The radio replyed a recent interview where he talked about death and said that he reads obituaries a lot these days and he would like his written now so he can read it and edit it. Then he said he didn’t want an obituary or an epitaph, we wanted someone to rent a billboard and just list his name and the phrase “He was just here a minute ago.”
It is poetic that he just won or was about to receive the Mark Twain award for Lifetime Acheivement in American Comedy and the first thing I thought of when I heard of his death was the Mark Twain quote “Live your life in such a way that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry.” George did just that, I’ll miss him.
