Are you new to Southern California? This type of behavior is the cultural norm around here – gated community or not.
Actually I partially blame it on the government who has been busy establishing the US as a police state.
The government does not want a more or less unified populace.
I remember in high school reading how in the USSR neighbors spied on each other, were suspicious of each other – that’s basically what we have today.
