All that really matters is what tastes best to *your* palate.
Try making a weekend afternoon of wine tasting in the Temecula Valley. There must be 25 wineries within a 10 mile drive.
We usually just go for the fun, but we’ve gone with a few self-professed wine snobs lately and they’ve forced us to pay attention to the quality of the wine.
The wineries high on the wine snobs’ list as producing the best: Wilson Creek, Wiens, Callaway, Leonesse, and maybe Monte de Oro (it is new, jury is still out).
As for the best-looking, most hoppin’, most fun wine tasting rooms: Thornton, Churon, Monte de Oro, Ponte, Leonesse, Wilson Creek, Bailys, and Callaway…roughly in that order.
(we still say half the taste comes from the atmosphere – if you’re having fun, it just tastes better)
Once you decide the wines you like, you can sign up for that winery’s wine club and they will be delivered to your door on a regular basis.
