afx114, AAPL might be a hit right now, but only time will tell if it can withstand the test of time and competition. AAPL is not the only one with a big war chest. MSFT also have 20B+ & GOOG have 14B+. Both of those companies also have bigger net profit. Which means they’ll have even more $ to spend on R&D. Regarding iCar, it’s already been done by MSFT and GOOG. MSFT have ford and GOOG have BMW. So AAPL is actually behind here. Regarding iFridge & iCentralAir, it’s already been done by LG, Samsung, and Sony. Those products are not here in the US but they’re everywhere in Kora and Japan. In Korea, you can already use your phone to turn on your AC, your TV, etc. before you get home. Also, iPhone is not doing very well in Japan if you noticed. Although they’re selling very well here, iPhone are very far behind the other cell phone on the market in Japan, tech-wise. Over there, you can use your phone to buy stuff from vending machine, can what full length movies OTA, etc. iPhone can’t even do MMS yet. Now that GOOG is stepping in w/ Android, it will definitely shake things up. Especially since it’s free. MSFT is finally feeling the heat and they can easily respond, since they have the $ and man/brain power to do so.
