Afx: Damn right. Too many people relegated him to pop status (especially after the movie “Purple Rain”), but he is an extremely talented guitarist and an exceptional lyricist.
He has penned dozens of songs that other artists are credited for (Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares To You” comes to mind) and he blew open quite a few genres with his writing and musical style.
Plus, chicks dig him. And any music that chicks dig is worth having around.
