Not true. If you buy the ones from Ace Hardware they are. The ones from Home Depot aren’t.
BTW: You shouldn’t be buying food made in china OR vietnam to begin with for health considerations ESPECIALLY seafood. For the longest time both Japan and Taiwan banned seafood from china and vietnam because some exporters consistently soaked them in mercury bath to keep freshness.
You can cross of the following places off the list for most items. Vons, Albertson, Target, Walmart, Stater Bros.
If you really want to do this, be prepared to pony up more $$$ for it. Places I found that stock good american food are Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, Henry’s, Jimbo’s (for CV residents) Costco (if you watch the labels).
Pay particular attention to juices. As often the american brands print in very faint black ink “Concentrate made from fruits from Mexico,China, and/or America” which mostly mean the fruits are NOT from America.
Apple juice for example…TreeTop and Martinelli’s were two big time brands that use to use apples from the U.S. TreeTop no longer…So unless you buy organic, Martinelli’s is your best bet (sold at costco).
OJ is the same thing. Brands like Minute Maid and Tropicana use oranges sourced from both Mexico, Asia, and America. Brands like Florida Natural use only domestic oranges.
Nuts are mostly imported now too, so if you really want to pull this off, again drop by Henry’s, Wholefoods, etc.
Domestic grapes again can be found at Henry’s.
Good luck finding bananas.
Again, be prepared to pay for the extra $$$. I already do for health reasons.
