4plex: “Jekyll Island” is a great read and an educational one, too. A friend of mine in banking gave this book to me after an argument about the Federal Reserve Bank and it’s true function.
I always recommend Zinn’s “People’s History” as well.
Funny you mention Operation Paperclip. My dad was an aerospace engineer and we were talking about the moon landing for a report I was preparing for school. My dad said, “Make sure you tell them we couldn’t have done it without the Nazis” and I was aghast. Turns out, he was right. A good chunk of American capabilities were built around a group of former Nazi rocket scientists like Werner von Braun, some of whom were ardent Nazis, that the US had spirited out of Germany after the end of WWII.
