Tall Fescue is a cool weather grass and does very well in coastal San Diego. Tall Fescue is easy to grow from seed if you start the process in the cooler months. I removed and re-seeded my entire lawn just after Labor Day. By Thanksgiving, my lawn was completely green.
Btw… Tall Fescue gets a little brown from heat stress in our summer months. Water it but do not fertilize it. If you fertilize it now, you’ll just cause more stress and possibly kill it.
