I read over my lease agreement 10 times and it doesn’t say anywhere on there about lost keys and how much it would cost for replacement.
If i were to take this matter to small claims, the judge should agree with me that it does cost $2 at HOme Depot and the most anyone should be able to charge is $20 for their lost time to go make the key.
They need to rekey anyways for the new tenant, so why do i get stuck with the bill for something they had to do after i moved out.
I could have easily only returned 2 and had 2 more duplicates. if they don’t change the locks, i would have access to my old unit, which is freakin scary for the new tenant or any tenant…
no one wants to know that their cheap landlord didn’t rekey the place when the old tenant moved out
