Having lived in the Chula Vista area since 1986, I’ve never heard of the “1%’ers.” Guess I must have lived a “sheltered existence” here in the middle of the “gang-infested ghetto,” lol.
FWIW, Piggs, I don’t have iron grates on my windows, don’t own a gun and never owned a security system. And I have no plans to acquire any of these things!
1%’ers are self proclaimed outlaw bikers. The are the 1% of society that does not live by “the rules”.
Locally we have Hells Angles, Mongols, and various other groups.
And yeah… They hang in Chula Vista… Where do you think they would hang? La Jolla?
PSA by CE
I would think Poway, Lakeside, Ramona, Campo, Boulevard and Dulzura, where they have historically “hung out.” Anyone have any idea where these so-called “outlaw bikers” hang out in Chula Vista? Could it be in 91911?? It could be said that 91910 and 91911 are almost completely different countries from one another. I’ve never seen them.
Sure they hang out there too but you stated that you never seen them and e.g they must not be there.
I have some dealings with the Chula Vista PD. Its part of my job to provided data services to them so I get the local scoop on the dirt every once and awhile so I no a little more about that area then others. Not trying to pick on CV I just know more about it.
But if you have any doubts read this juice little tid bit.
and I won’t argue that any nice nieghbor hood can’t go bad.
and I realize that CV has many nice places to live. I love the “hill” area by H street but would never buy a home there unless my childern were already out of school.

CE, your article is dated 2000 (11 years ago).
. . . The primary retail distributors of methamphetamine in the district are Mexican criminals and Mexican-American criminal groups. Local independent dealers, street gangs, Caucasians, and biker gangs also distribute the drug. The Chula Vista Police Department states that Mexicans, as well as Caucasians and biker gangs, distribute methamphetamine in its area. DEA reports that the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club is establishing a chapter in Tijuana; however, a working relationship between the Hells Angels and Mexican DTOs has not been confirmed.
According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the dominant distributors of methamphetamine in San Diego County are Caucasians with connections to the Arellano-Felix Organization. The San Diego Police Department describes a layered drug distribution network whereby Mexican DTOs deal with middlemen who then work with known dealers–from gangs to individuals–who handle street sales. Most of the drug dealing at the street level is polydrug. . .
(emphasis added)
The article also mentions several areas in North County which were infested with gang/meth mfg/sales activity and also areas in Imperial County and Logan Heights (SD). If the “Hells Angels” are currently established in Tijuana, BC, that is NOT Chula Vista.
Also, Chula Vista is a very diverse City of over 250K residents living in five zip codes. Each zip code/micro-area has different demographics from the other, sometimes VASTLY different. If something is happening in Chula Vista that I’m not aware of, it could be going on up to 12+ miles away from me, in an area I don’t frequent. You can’t lump “Chula Vista” all into one category, just like you can’t lump San Diego or Escondido into one category. They’re too big.
Yes, the “Hill”top area you are referring to is one of the better neighborhoods in Chula Vista to raise a family in. And Hilltop HS has an well-known IB program and also participates in a nationwide Academic Decathalon every year. It is a very good school (as well as its feeder schools) and I would highly recommend raising children in those (mostly larger) well-built homes situated on spacious lots :=]
And you think that because the document is 11 years old that all of that has since been cleared up? I should have done more research but google any of those key words and you will find Bikers, gangs, and meth all in Chula Vista. Your arguement was that they were not there. They are there… in force. The reason Hell’s Angels are not in Chula Vista in force is because that is not territroy they own. Could be Boozefighter, Bandidos, or some other club but they are there and like you said it the article is 11 years old so who knows who “owns” CV now.
Also you make this statement: ” The article also mentions several areas in North County which were infested with gang/meth mfg/sales activity and also areas in Imperial County and Logan Heights (SD). If the “Hells Angels” are currently established in Tijuana, BC, that is NOT Chula Vista.”
But you highlighted this as well: “The Chula Vista Police Department states that Mexicans, as well as Caucasians and biker gangs, distribute methamphetamine in its area. DEA reports that the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club is establishing a chapter in Tijuana”
That area IS Chula Vista. CVPD reports this activity IN ITS AREA. Key words there…
I know you love your home and can feel your conviction for it but this area has problems. Most do. Just not the kind I want my kids to deal with
But I would not raise my childern on “The Hill” in a school or district that has the neigbhorhood’s next future hood rats.
I grew up fighting with the State Street Boys, Pinoy Boys, Bloods, Little Latin Locos, and 28th Street instead of paying attention to schooling (I grew up in schools were kids became Crips so at least I didn’t have to fight with them).
That is just not the area I would raise my kid in. May be out towards Eastlake but not anywhere near that stuff in old CV. And eventually that shit will spill over into the newer neighborhoods of CV.
Deny it all you want but it is there. Just be careful of yourself.
