The ref for the american game was making consistantly bad calls in both directions. Upon review I think that he knew he made a mistake upon allowing the free kick. The free kick should have never happened and when the US made a goal from it and he disallowed the goal. That being said YOU CAN’T NOT DO THIS. You are not allow to correct a previous bad call by committing another bad call (e.g. disallowing the goal). FIFA laws (and yes they are called laws instead of rules) does not allow for this!
So even though the free kick should have never been awarded it does not have bearing on the fact we were robbed of a goal as well.
