My problem is that Mello Roos is a tough sell for me, especially in places like Santa Luz where the bonds are incredibly high. I know it has some effect on the quality of education, etc., but it can be real tough to quantify that benefit. Home improvements, on the other hand, usually get you what you want in terms of QOL.
I often joke with my wife about the contrast between Fairbanks and Santa Luz. There is a dividing line as you reach the crest driving up San Dieguito Rd. It’s like you’ve reached the 10,000 ft tree line. You go from the eucalyptus and pine tree forested landscape of Fairbanks to the treeless tundra of Santa Luz.
