Good L@rd, some of these very prominent, well-connected women, ESP the rear admiral (#9) and the philanthropist (#5) really have no reason to make stuff up for money.
But I agree with UCGal that asking the nurse for a date in exchange for “helping” her patient is over the line. However, she wasn’t one of his “employees.” He’s got more to worry about with the city employees’ claims (IF legitimate). I could see City employees trumping up their claims in an effort to “work the system,” ESPECially if nearing retirement.
After all, Feelner is “single” (no longer engaged? – who CARES) and can comment on someone’s looks and ask them out if he wishes.
Back a few years ago, when Filner represented my District, I thought his judgment was poor when he publicly grandstanded to help a local woman who was losing her house to foreclosure after a divorce (that she should have never kept in the first place). But I never imagined that he was so socially-handicapped that he couldn’t focus on the issues he was elected to address.
I still think he is better qualified for the mayor’s job than the likes of (delusional) Carl DeMaio. But his “poor judgment” may very well end his political career. I don’t think any of the (prominent) women (Nos 5 and 7-11 in the article) would have come out of the woodwork after the first claims were made had this thing not been blown completely out of proportion. They’re all “boomers” who have been around the block a time or two and who undoubtedly just chalked their experiences with Feelner up to being all in a day’s work :=0 We must remember that these womens’ adulthood and careers spanned an era where there were no laws against “sexual harassmemt.”
This whole mess doesn’t bode well for the City of SD. Instead of focusing on those looming ULP’s pending at PERB and the CA courts of appeal and other highly important pending matters and claims, the City Attorney is undoubtedly now deploying their staff to “investigate” Bob Filner’s (lengthy) “personal life.” Given his age, that could take YEARS, folks. Who CARES! I don’t vote for candidates based upon their personal lives. I want EXPERIENCE. Filner has that … in spades … and SD sorely needed his experience … making this whole debacle very unfortunate, indeed.

paramount, even if “Character Counts,” SD voters’ only other alternative was the likes of (delusional) Carl DeMaio, who not only has a few skeletons in his (much newer) closet, but having him as mayor would have cost the City many millions in futile legal fees, due to the “Strong Mayor” form of government they voted for in 2004. Having DeMaio as mayor would have been very dangerous, indeed for the City.
Perhaps the City’s legal tab with Feelner at the helm will also end up being enormous if this thing gets too much further out of hand.
The is all the more reason Goldsmith needs to dim the blinds of his conference rooms and bring in the coffeemakers, batteries and flashlights and depose on video for as long as it takes every person who has filed a lawsuit against the City for alleged sexual harassment by Feelner AND ALL their “witnesses” … forthwith. Their “risk mgmt” investigators should be out in full force in every department where there has been a claim filed against the City and Feelner for sexual harassment. They should stay in those departments until they record interviews with everyone (including any resident flies on the wall) who claim to have any information at all about Feelner’s “victims'” claims.
It’s in the City’s best interest that this thing be put behind them ASAP.

While it is often noted that the the ML affair ‘preciptated’ it, there was court action prior.. where it seemed Clinton was pulling behind the scenes strings.
I have to say – some of the allegations are not sexual harassment – the church singer who said he came on to her after church – that’sleazy, but not sexual harassment. I think we can all agree that Filner is more slimy than smooth as a “player”. It seems like some of the complaints are just showing he was slimy and inept in asking women out, making moves on them. But wasn’t using his position/power to coerce them.
That said – the nurse who just came forward. She went to him to advocate for a patient and he said he’d help out **IF** she’d go out with him. That’s classic sexual harassment. If it happened as reported – he’s toast.
I just wish Gloria Allred wasn’t involved in this – it taints what might be legitimate complaints.
Totally agree with all of this.

Filner, on the other hand, is a pig.
Clinton is no better than Filner (at least based on current info) He lied under oath rather than choosing to refuse to answer questions about ML. He was impeached by the house of representatives. When will people stop painting Clinton as a man persecuted for infidelity? And I voted for him. With respect to Spitzer – I assume paying for prostitutes is illegal in DC – so he is also guilty of a crime/misdemeanor. Why do we, as Americans, tolerate disrespect for the law by our politicians?

While it is often noted that the the ML affair ‘preciptated’ it, there was court action prior.. where it seemed Clinton was pulling behind the scenes strings. Too many ‘dismissals’ and then case restarts.
