ToneParticipant
Marion,
Were you forced to get out — like “you have 30 days to vacate” — or did you read the writing on the wall and look for another place at a more leisurely pace. I guess my biggest fear is renting a place, getting hit by a foreclosure, and having to scramble to find another rental thereby taking a place I may not be entirely happy with.

ToneParticipantMarion – Yes, I love my dog but he is a burden because I’m having a difficult time finding a good rental that will take him. I don’t think I’ll have another dog after him because it’s better to travel light as I can see myself still renting well into 2012 (even though I’m sure I’ll be sorely tempted to buy, I want to wait to see what happens when all of those Option Arms reset).
Navydoc – I’m curious – how do you know without opening the mail that your landlord is current on the mortgage? How would you know the instant a NOD is filed? And how did you get all the mortgage info on your landlord? These are probably dumb questions with obvious answers but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything. Thanks.

ToneParticipantThanks for the replies Marion and SD Realtor.
SD Realtor – I really appreciate your offer of looking up an address. I’d love to take you up on it, but I’m actually looking in the greater Long Beach (LA County) area. That’s kinda’ out of your area, isn’t it? But still, many thanks.
Marion – Glad to hear about your condo/apartment. Actually, I’m a bit envious as my wife and I would love to get into a newer apartment but we have a big, lovable, senior labrador retriever we have to accommodate. In fact, alotta’ places won’t even consider renting to us because of him. He’s my buddy but he’s the last dog we’re ever going to have.
