Looking back, isn’t it bizarre people bought 1450 sq ft homes like this for close to 600 grand, expecting them to just keep going up in value? Six-hundred grand for a 3 bedroom SFH in a so-so neighborhood!; it really shows the level of insanity and speculation. But I guess it can be understood in the frenzy of hoards of sheep (buyers) all running in the same direction and believing prices will just keep going up and UP.

I remember when our 3 BR/2BTH, no garage, 1200 sq ft condo in a so-so part of RB went over four-hundred grand on price. I saw it was insanity. That condo was an apartment convert and such a POS. That valuation had completely lost touch with reality.

What irks me is how these people that own them need to show you their built-in.

I have another contender for Most Annoying Habit of Self-Centered Upwardly Mobile (usually dual-earning techie family) Types with Kids.

They invite you over, without giving fair warning you’ll be tortured by:

1) Their bragging how their 60″ plasma can now surf the web, ‘cause they hooked it up to a PC, which leads into….
2) It can also display the multiple Terabytes of photos of their “adorable kids” from the extra PC they now have hooked to the plasma. Which leads into….
3) Seeing a “a few photos” turns into TWO HOURS of looking at awful photos of their spoiled kids. I’m talkin’ people who could NOT take a good photo on accident. People that didn’t even take the time to re-orient images so people are right-side UP, after their 10 Mpixel camera upchucked thousands of images from their every insipid family event just so you can see each and every boring dreadful image.

I bet you know at least one family just like them?

My wife and I don’t have kids yet. When we start (plan to soon) we promise never to torture our friends by showing them thousands of digital images of our kids.

QUESTION: What is China going to do after its banks lose about 50 billion dollars on subprime mortgage backed securities that American financial institutions sold them by “putting lipstick on the pig”?

I think Chinese leaders will view it as conspiracy by corporate America (and American government) to defraud the Chinese. They will want revenge, and will have it. The question is how?

This is about running economic simulations in my mind, and figuring out how I can make money buy anticipating China’s revenge. Maybe China will disconnect the RMB$$ exchange rate, and dump that estimate trillion US dollars they are holding in reserves, which will destabilize the dollar. But I need to think more on this. Keep in mind I don’t see onset of this for another several years, at the earliest.

How will this revenge scenario play out, that is the question.
