since you have one year to shop around, it’d be good to rent a place in your prefered location first and see if you’d like it…
Good call but moving twice is a little scary with two little ones. I probably should since this is going to be the biggest buying decision in my life but we’ll see. I plan on driving from UC to PQ tomorrow after work to figure out how frustrating the commute will be.
sdmoveParticipant
Your budget is $400k, right? What are your requirements? What area do you work in? Is there a reason you rule our Sorrento Valley and Mira Mesa? If you work in Sorrento Valley area, Wateridge town house is pretty nice for around $400k and Mira Mesa is more affordable than all of those areas and school is comparable to UC. Your $ stretch the furthest in Mira Mesa.
Hello AN, I’m looking 2+/2+ condos and homes and the reason I chose UC, CV, PQ and SR were for the schools. I currently live and work in UC. I excluded Mira Mesa and Sorrento valley as I’ve read the schools in MM are not as good.Thank you.

sdmoveParticipant
Jim Klinge specializes in north county coastal. I’m an avid reader of his blog and if I was looking in CV or along the coast north of there, I’d choose him because he’s such a straight shooter.
sdrealtor lives somewhere near Encinitas – knows that area really well.
SD Realtor lives in Scripps and knows the Scripps/PQ/Poway area really well.
I’m not a realtor – but can answer any questions you have about UC from the perspective of a resident. I grew up in UC (attended Curie in the 60’s!) and my kids are going to Curie now. My sister also lives in UC on the west side and teaches at Spreckels. I’ve got a lot of current and historical knowledge of UC – especially south UC (the area with the single family homes). Feel free to ask question, or pm me if you want.
Thanks UCGal. You might be hearing from me soon.

sdmoveParticipantDo home buyers ever use more than 1 realtor? I’m interested in the UTC, CV and PQ areas but am guessing no one realtor will cover all 3.
