    If you invest in Vanguard Treasury Money Market (VMPXX) then the $100,000 FDIC limit doesn’t apply. Your insurance is the US Govt. itself for the full amount. In addition to that, you can seek higher yields using TreasuryDirect.gov by buying T-Bill, T-Notes, and I-Series US Savings bonds, as another poster mentioned. If any of these go illiquid, we are all in deep sh**.

    To jficquette:
    I would just request that when you post in the off topic forum that you have the common courtesy to prefix the post with “OT:” like others do.

    To Rich:
    Even better, I would like to see you have a seperate sidebar area for Off Topic discussions so that they don’t appear at the top of the “Active forum topics” list. This is primarily a housing blog and IMHO if the Off Topic begins to dominate, it devalues the site. If there are off-topic postings they should appear in a seperate sidebar BELOW the Active forum topics….

    Even better, I would like to see you have a seperate sidebar area for Off Topic discussions so that they don’t appear at the top of the “Active forum topics” list. This is primarily a housing blog and IMHO if the Off Topic begins to dominate, it devalues the site.     Still lurking….I check the site at least every other day, but previous posters are right, this downturn is getting downright boring. Ho Hum….Rich doesn’t post as much as he used to (I’m sure he’s got a boatload of clients) and RaptorDuck bought his dream house………………….
