mixxalotParticipant
I like Crown Point, Encinitas, and Point Loma
Just that they are waaaaay overpriced right now. Just like all San Diego real estate.
mixxalotParticipantWell judging from the fact that Hillary and Obama are bigtime corporate lawyers and with the past story of Whitewater I would not be surprised if these guys try to play a 3 card monte on the people in this country. I trust most lawyers and politicians as far as I can throw them in same category as used cars salesmen and insurance sales people and most real estate con artists. Not good.
If Hillary gets elected major tax hikes.
mixxalotParticipantPrices need to drop another 200k for anyone with half a brain to buy one of these dumps.
mixxalotParticipantIf I had kids and were wealthy then yes, Irvine would indeed be a place to raise a family and live. However as a bachelor it makes no sense and is dead. Different strokes for different folks.
I am waiting for condos and smaller 2-3 bedroom SFH home prices to drop in San Diego over next few years before I buy. I just want a small yard, 2-3 bedrooms and a real garage not these crappy parking space excuse of garage in condos that most developments offer.
I like Point Loma, Encinitas and Pacific Beach areas.
mixxalotParticipantNot Impressed with Over Priced Irvine
Its a dead boring with with overpriced housing and bad traffic. San Diego is a WAY nicer place to live with so much more to do.
mixxalotParticipantI agree- this Serin Gas attack will poison the minds of all with folly with respect to real estate markets and business.
mixxalotParticipantMTV generation and Reality
I know so many young kids today that are spoiled rotten with rich mommy and daddy that buy them expensive BMW and Mercedes in San Diego. That and image is so important here. I’d rather do the wise thing and save and invest over time than just waste money. Case in point, met a young 22 year old receptionist who works in dental office the other day and she drives a new BMW financed by either a rich daddy or debt. I drive an old car and no car payment and save my finances.
mixxalotParticipantCredit bubbles and consumer spending
Tend to go in cycles. Americans do not save very well at least compared to folks from Asia and India. That and high gas prices will affect matters in San Diego.
mixxalotParticipantCarlsbad traffic sucks.
I like north coastal but the wicked commute forever makes it off limits- that and its expensive as hell.
mixxalotParticipantI agree- San Diego employers are notorious for paying low salaries for well educated tech workers. A senior level Oracle person can easily make over 120k in SF, San Jose, Los Angeles or Orange County. Here the firms want to pay peanuts like maybe 80k for same exact person. Sad reality is the cost of living in San Diego is now about same as these expensive places that pay well.
mixxalotParticipantGood point
I just got my haircut at a local Supercuts and the stylist lady drives a fairly new BMW- easy credit. For me, I drive an old car and save. I dont care what foolish poseurs (which are common here) think. When I can retire before 50 in the Caribean or South Pacific then I will have the last laugh.
mixxalotParticipantDenver wages and tech market
Actually thats great- I can afford more house in Denver, Utah or Miami than San Diego. Will see how things go next couple years. No rush. Time is on my side thats the key is patience.
Tech jobs pay well in Denver believe it or not- as much as San Diego.
mixxalotParticipantA few potential places for me to check out:
-
1. Salt Lake City, Utah
2. Denver, Colorado
3. Virginia Beach, VA
4. Miami, FLThese offer much of what I would be happy with as places to live and not cost a fortune like San Diego. I think that strategic wise, Utah and Denver are good except in winter for travel to both coasts and continental USA on business. Anyways, I have a year or two to be concerned about it before I decide to buy a home.
mixxalotParticipantI agree- all of the major metro areas in California (SF/SJ/LA/OC/SD) are not affordable for those making less than 200k a year compared to Denver or Dallas or Austin for example.
