I have lived in Virginia, we had both, only the dehumidifier was in the basement. Mold grows quickly in a damp area, you will need at least a humidifier in the basement or lower floor in the summer so the house doesn’t smell like a mold farm…

MANmomParticipantMy son was in second grade when we moved back to SD and into Penasquitos. He has had an IEP since he was 4, had speech and learning difficulties, as well as some motor function delay. I am proud to say he finished speech in 5th grade, totally caught up. He still recieves services now as a 9th grade student, he has a special class at the end of the day called Learning Strategies at Westview HS that specifically targets his homework and understanding the subject matter of the day. He even has teachers assistants that attend class with him for math to help him in Learning Strats. We just discovered he has ADD, the innatentive kind, and is now medicated and doing much better. Had I known about the ADD earlier (they can’t tell you if they suspect it, which is a shame) I could have done something sooner. You are on the right track. I have been satisfied with his special ed, they can’t work miracles, you still have to advocate for your kid. PQ is a great place for families, is cheaper than CV, and I think the services have been adequate to good. I hope this helps.

MANmomParticipantThere is a very simple fix for this; there are screws specially designed that have a “double head”, like a small head with an additional mushroom head on top. You simply drive the screw into the subfloor, then using a tool like a screwdriver, you break off the mushroom head of the screw, leaving the first head in the subfloor and under the carpet and you can’t see it…simple fix! The screw is designed to break off and leave the rest of the screw in place. Good luck.
