Scaredycat, just wanted to wish you the best of luck.
The thread got so long that I haven’t read everything,
but hopefully I didn’t miss something critical.Your wife sounds like the smart type, I wouldn’t worry too much about her changing her opinion. The smarter they are, the more reasonable they tend to be. Ask yourself, does she always change her mind about all kinds of stuff?

justmeParticipantdavelj,
It is not easy to make an honest argument with some of the folks on this boards. Many are ok, but the dishonest ones will do all kinds of things to try and make you look bad in the eyes of the casual reader:
1. they will put words in your mouth that you did not state.
2. they will argue against strawman positions that you never took.
3. they will ask “why you are against marriage and children”, much like war mongers would ask “why do you hate your country” when all one did was to hate the war.
Keep up the good work. And I also applaud honest and thoughtful people like Scaredycat (I hope he does not mind the endorsement :)).

Most women would be more than happy to let men take over the BC responsibility. Oddly enough, though men often complain about being “trapped” they all too often refuse to take any responsibility for their own birth control. They have ALWAYS had choices (abstaining from having sex with women you don’t want to procrate with would be a logical first step, no?).[/quote]
To your first point: I do not believe for one second that a woman is going to trust a man to be responsible for contraception, unless the contraception method can be visually verified.
To your second point: I wish you were kidding. What kind of choice is that? Especially when women get the choice of having sex with men they may or may not want to procreate with, and also get the options of fraudulently getting themselves pregnant or even fraudulently fingering an innocent man to be the provider for someone else’s biological child.
There is no justice in either of the above scenarios.
