How much is your time worth?
If you convert your pool to salt water, you’ll spend around $1000-1100 up front, but then you’ll spend about $.30-40/day in electricity cost creating chlorine from the salt. So, it’s probably break even with buying bleach.
Before, I used to spend 5 mins minimum DAILY checking the pool chemistry, pouring in bleach, and hoping that algae doesn’t grow. If I missed a day or two, then algae would come back with a vengeance, and I’d spend a couple hours fixing my mistake.
Now, I go out there every two weeks for 10 minutes, check chemistry and make sure my chlorine levels are good. I might have to brush off a little bit of algae from time to time, but if you keep your chlorine levels up, you won’t have to worry about phosphates and algaecide, etc. That is just a money maker anyways.
So, do you wanna spend 20 minutes a month caring for your pool, or 3+ hours a month caring for your pool?
I haven’t regretted my salt water generator one bit since I bought it.

jeemanParticipantocrenter,
The SWG has been a God-send. I used to be out there, testing chemical levels and pouring in bleach to do the BBB method. The SWG has reduced that to twice a month. It comes out to equal cost over 3-4 years in money alone, but that time saved has put it way over the top.
I got Circupool for $800, and paid someone $100 to install it, and another $50 in parts. Electricity costs every day is around 40c/day.
