I’m talking about the “no research at all” on hESC cells platform that the Republicans adopted at their National Convention (on top of existing regs).
It’s not always about money. That’s my beef with your post. The fact that most of my collaboration deals are with foreign universities should be a wake-up call that the biotech industry is getting screwed here and a portion of it will go overseas.
But who cares about research or the environment when all you worry about is the size of your retirement fund, right?
And if was about spend, spend, spend, why in the hell weren’t you complaining when the SEC budget gets cut. Surprise, no regulatory enforcement, what happens?
Why aren’t you complaining when legislation is passed stating that corporations will self-regulate themselves on SEC and EPA matters? You believe that criminals do self-report?
The bail-out isn’t the problem, we all know that, so if you’re going to be the type that blames it on Jimmy Carter, let’s take a step back and really look at Phil Gramm.

DukehornParticipantDoh,
Some idiot forgot to mention that Obama did graduate magna cum lauda from Harvard Law. Not the easiest thing to do. My friend who teaches at Thomas Jefferson Law School certainly didn’t attain that when he was at Harvard Law.
And Palin has to be thanking her particular creationist beliefs that there’s no “pesky” intellectual issues like “follow up” questions in a debate. I mean when I give an opinion on a Supreme Court case that I’ve never read I certainly don’t expect a judge to ask follow up questions. The temerity of it all!!!
Let’s try again: “Governor Palin, you mention that you oppose certain Supreme Court decisions, can you please elaborate”

Bravo Governor Palin Bravo!!
Now go back to your family values (oh wait…..).
As for you software techies that worry about the economy, guess there’s no sympathy that the biotech industry is getting shafted by the conservatives, eh?? Nice….

Where are you getting that PhD from? I’ll make sure my start-up clients avoid hiring anyone from that school.
Obviously, the ability to make money has nothing to do with the ability to understand science.
Anyway, the 2008 Republican Platform on human embryonic stem cells is to ban all research including privately funded research. Unfortunately, they still haven’t addressed the issue of throwing IVF embryos in the trash after the families are done. Odd, isn’t it.
PS The creationists abandoned the eye argument around 10 years ago (sort of like how they avoid talking about our vestigal tailbone). Stay on the agenda, it’s about intelligent design as a whole–avoid using actual body parts as creationism examples because science does advance (which sort of explains the 2 billion to 4 billion difference–better science). Seriously, with all these advances in the world of chip design/manufacture, you can’t comprehend advances in the life sciences (like PCR, RNAi)? Don’t be a tool….
