[quote=MANmom]The verrazzano homes have Mello-roos of about $700 per month, that includes HOA I think…outrageous. Across the street from Westview is a new housing tract being built by Pardee. No info yet on how big they will be, I assume in this market they will be smaller, no-frills houses, but I really don’t know. I think there will be more than 120…yuck. My thoughts on the market here are that people are in denial, and not enough people have to sell right now. Lots of long-time owners.”
700 bucks a month in Mello-roos – that’s 8400.00/yr. PLUS the 1% Property Tax ????
Oye to the Vey…120 homes in that new tract by Westview????
Really? Seriously? Why would they do that? Is there a financial reason to build those homes? You were spot on with the “people in denial” thing. We’re gonna stick to our little rental townhome and just watch the show…Better go make some popcorn, this is gonna be longer than Gone with the Wind….

doublewideParticipantSD R,
I get it now…I thought all the online housing data providers were separate…I thought the owner or agent had to enter the homes into each site – didn’t know it all came from MLS.
So does this contribute to the “phantom inventory” issue you all discuss periodically? These 12 homes are for sale but not part of the “offical number”? I knew banks were sitting on homes, not releasing them, not wanting to flood the market, but I didn’t know homes are activly being marketed but not offically listed…wonder how many there are out there for sale but not listed. Yup, gonna stick to renting!
I’ll write down some numbers and call on them next time we’re out…

I’ve got a Beretta 9mm and I bought a .22 Revolver for my mom. My mom refuses to buy ammo for the .22 so I’ve been thinking of asking her for it back so I can teach my daughter to shoot w/ it.
I got the Beretta back in 1993. Lots of friends were buying Glocks at the time – never understood that one. Took a class through Mesa College down at the SDPD shooting range off 94 @ Home Ave. (what is that neighborhood called?) It was taught by ex-cops – I figured if I learned the rules from them I couldn’t go wrong. Got into a nearly disasterous discussion w/ one instructor when I asked him about the “clip” and he told me “a clip is something you put in your hair – this is a magazine honey” – I pointed out a magazine is something you read and I think he almost shot me ;>)
I used to shoot at Discount Gun Mart on Morena over by USD…anyone been there lately? I’ve been wondering what the minimum age is…
Last year in Santa Fe we shot skeet and that got my daughter hooked….figured I’d better train her now how to handle firearms safely.
As to home safety….We’ve got a pack of angry Chihuahuas….I swear these little dogs scare people more than knowing I have a gun would :>)
