On the subject of down payments…I was reading Ben’s blog this morning and he quoted from an article about a Bay Area woman who saved up 20 percent for a down payment so she could buy a home in the $1 million range. Lender after lender has been telling her, “Nope. We want 45% down.” Wow!

CMcGParticipantI am a Dem who will vote Hillary or Obama, whoever gets the nomination. My dad is a conservative Repub who was devastated when Romney dropped out. Romney was the only one of the front runners to address the jihadist Muslim threat. He thinks there will be a grass roots drive to write in Romney. Thoughts?

My daughter thinks the marriage is in trouble. The wife is very demanding of my daughter. I think she is paying a premium for the “on-call” stuff. She has already bitched my daughter out for not answering her calls when my kid is in class (my kid has wisely said, “I am not allowed, nor will I, answer my cell phone during classes or when I am eating a meal.”) I just don’t know what to make of this. She has a very demanding course load, with plenty of homework, and she told the woman that they needed to set up some kind of regular schedule. My daughter is torn between the money she is being paid and doing what she needs to do at college. She also has said to me, “I don’t want to be a participant in the unraveling of a marriage.” I know it’s un-PC, but I said, “If she didn’t have you, she’d simply hire someone else.”
