Why do realtors are so concerned about rising prices ? Rising house prices increases their commissions. Essentially they are middlemen. Shouldn’t they be representing both sellers and buyers ?
I wish technology puts these folks out of business for good.
bob007ParticipantWhether there is a sharp decline or small decline or no decline one point I like to make is that that housing won’t appreciate for 10+ years until 2015.
bob007ParticipantFor SD Realtor ever considered the fact the USD could be a depreciating asset.

bob007Participantsome sellers are sitting on a lot of equity cushion. they do not have to sell unless they get the right price. The key to the housing market is the marginal buyers who bought between 2004-2006. The few sellers set the prices for all of us.

I do not know if the current prices will be sustained.bob007ParticipantI am not the same poster as Bob2007.
bob007Participantbio-science companies will always get funding from NSF, NIH and lately the department of homeland security. Money is not an issue even though it would be nice to be profitable. The biggest threat to SD bio-science industry is competition from other areas in the USA.
For the next 10 years QUALCOMM is unlikely to outsource on a large scale. QUALCOMM is a chip design company. There have been little success outsourcing chip designs to India/China.
bob007ParticipantIn the next 10 years San Diego will always have significant employment tied to UC – San Diego, QUALCOMM, bioscience companies, defense companies and a huge naval base. The number and salaries will vary according to economic conditions.
There ain’t going to be wholesale job losses unless the whole US company collapses.

bob007ParticipantThere is little difference between starter of this thread and the speculators of CA real estate market. I would not expect huge drops in real estate especially in good family neighborhoods. There is little incentive for the lenders, real estate industry and others to commoditize the business. The only thing to produce huge drops would be massive job lossses. I would expect significant number of folks reading this message board to be out of work. The most important thing is that do not expect big increases in real estate property values for the next 20-30 years.
