    That summary does not point to anything really negative. so, are there any areas I should avoid looking at houses in? Or any negatives not noted in the wiki article?

    So far my wife likes Vallecitos Ridge, granted we have not been down there physically. We are planning to go exploring next weekend.

    So, my wife found some new homes in San Marcos that are reasonably priced. What kind of commute would I be looking at from San Marcos? Any estimates?

    Everything closer than Escondido or San Marcos seems to be 100 or 200K more.

    We want to spend around 400K. We are considering renting to, but trying to explore all options right now.
