Ha. That is true, it’s definitely a car dependent area; just orchids, coyotes, racoons and lots of schools around here. But the wife and I are a couple of life long DINKS so that doesn’t mean much to us.

Yeah, what can I say I just really fell for the place. Never saw myself buying a house built before 2000 but this just felt right. Sellers put over 180k into the place after buying it for 720k at the height, so I’m getting the benefits of another FB.

The main reason my down payment was possible was because I was too stubborn to sell all the SIRI shares I bought back in 2008 and 2009. Plus I’ve more then doubled my salary since 2006. I still have over 250k in reserve, so it’s pretty safe at this point.

OCrenter: Mind if I ask if you feel the low quality is in the builder or just in the “crap we need to get these built and sold quick” market attitude? I’m thinking of checking out the CornerStone houses in Santee this weekend and will be curious if they have the tile and orange peep issues you mentioned above.

Although my budget of 450k max would probably warrant such construction. Ha

Thanks guys, those are great suggestions I think the wife and I will take a trip down to Santee this weekend and Otay next.

We were surprised how TierraSanta has seemed to have been spared the same deprecation that MM and further south have been hit with. I’m guessing the much heralded Alt-A crisis will hit them pretty hard, but then again what do I know.
