Why do rural folks vote Republicans?

It seems that lakehouse wants the government to FORCE its citizens to be their brothers keeper. That is slavery in my book, and no different than when the Christian churches of the middle ages “tended their flock of sheep.” Enslaving the rich to the poor and needy is no more moral than enslaving the poor to the rich. Besides, the rich contribute to charity, the poor merely soak it up, then make more babies to carry on the tradition.

Wouldn’t it be nice if poor people assumed the work ethic and selfish attitudes of the rich?

How about a society where people contribute to charity because they WANT to, not because uncle Sam has the IRS gun in their face? That is ROBBERY, but some simpletons believe in the legend of Robin Hood. Just so you simpletons know, there was no Robin Hood. Nor was there a Tinkerbell or Santa Claus.

There isn’t one because you’re selfish. You don’t want to pay taxes, but what happens then to the mentally ill who cannot take care of themselves? How do we get a national health care system so everybody can have coverage? With the majority of republicans it’s always about “me, me, me” and protecting their pocketbooks. Not cool.

I doubt Mcain would have done a MUCH better job, but I’m sure he would have done a somewhat better job. At least he would have kept us safe from more 9/11’s.

I am selfish. I intend to stay that way. If the government wasn’t already doling out welfare to the mentally ill and big corporations alike, I might have an incentive to act on my desire to make the world a better place. But with the government (state and Fed) making BAD decisions with my (and everyone ‘s) money, why should I give one red cent to charity? I would rather give it to my daughter or my wife or my brothers and their children.
Every day we hear about a politician, Republican or Demacommie caught with their hand in the till. And you know as well as I that we only get to see the tip of the iceberg. And you want to give these people MORE money? That’s like giving gang-bangers more guns and then acting surprised when they shoot someone.
Now Barack Obamarx wants to increase taxes! When black people discover that the government has gotten richer but their neighborhood is still suffering drive-by shootings and drug deals as the economy nose dives further, they are going to be pissed. And they won’t be able to blame the Republicans, either.
