This is just the beginning. Americans not only fail to support and demand good jobs they actually call for the “other guy” to lose his job. When that happens its only a matter of time before you become the “other guy”.
It started with the UAW. The entire country seemed to be calling for these $27 an hour long time workers to be fired and their jobs divided amongst Japan, Korea and China. Well those jobs are going bye-bye right now.
Problem is…those jobs are related to other jobs, including IT. Who would have thought huh?
The dominoes are falling and the interconnectivity is just beginning to unravel.I said it before and here it goes again. Until Americans wake up and start acting like the Europeans, demanding good jobs and blocking roads and kidnapping CEOs to get the point across, then we are at the mercy of TPTB.
Alas, we are young country, still nieve in that we believe the Elite have our best interest at heart and that fairness and equality will rule the day, when it comes down to MY job (but..f@ck the other guy’s job).
Here is an interesting post concerning IT from another blog:
—————-
“Doesn’t Microsoft already outsource? Isn’t that the sole reason for their intensive lobbying operation? I.E. to maintain the flow of H1Bs and any other possible way to depress software wages?Personally, I think IT employees deserve to have their jobs outsourced. As a Software developer myself now for many years I am convinced that even a monkey could write better code than 99% of the engineers in the US despite the fact that writing code is the easily the easiest job I have ever had. IT and software have got to be the most over hyped professions in the history of professions.”
—————
When they came for my neighbors job I said nothing (heck I cheered his demise), when they came for my friends job I said nothing. When they came for MY job there was no one to say anything in my support.
Spare us the posts trying to convince us that US IT workers are different and can’t be outsourced and don’t need no help, please:)
Not to make lite of your unemployment situation mixxalot, I feel for you and will always hope for and defend your right to a good job in this country. You wanna do a roadblock? I’m in!
Whatever Scarlet….Spare us the doom and gloom. Clearly, this industry is out of your league, and posting one disgruntled workers opinion is an interesting approach to providing data.
Mixalot, you wanted leads, you got them. What you do with them is completely up to you. Ball’s in your court.

June 10, 2009 at 11:23 AM #413202Rt.66ParticipantFlu do you remember our conversation over the UAW jobs when you were spouting off about how IT is different and the jobs are untouchable blah, blah blah.
You seem to be singing a different tune now.

Nope, I’m not exactly saying that IT is same or different. Someone posted about anyone know if there are any jobs, I’m just posting what I see…
At least you’d have the courtesy to keep this thread on that topic for people that are looking for a job, unlikely trashing every other thread into a Scarlet bitch and moan session. What I’m saying is there are jobs out there..And until one goes after them, hardly the end of the world. Sure, the economy sucks, and people are getting axed. And sure you’re going to find some workers overseas doing the work. Does it mean jobs go completely out the window? Clearly not. Companies do nasty shit these days (some to immigrants so to u.s. workers). Big fvcking deal.
You want to quit, bitch and moan, sit in the corner and cry, go for it.I just wonder why you are so insistent on finding people to join you in your mud bath of misery? Perhaps you need company in your own predicament? Not sure what you’re getting at.
I’m happy to be in my current state of chumpness. I’d rather be my chumpness with my current financial situation than a bitter, mad, spiteful person like yourself.
Have fun wallowing in misery, UAW girl.
