The only reason brought forth by this link as to why you think it won’t be cause of cost. Remember, algea biodiesel is still in its infancy stage. Solar, wind, corn ethanol, etc are not economically feasible either when they were at this stage of development. In this article, he say the cost of creating 1 gallon of biodiesel from algae is 10-15 times higher than oil. But then he admits that BC gets 1/3 of the sunlight per year compare to some other places, so the cost as it stands right now, is 3-5 times.
