Way OT: Windshield Replacement?

Got a new and quite spectacular crack that traveled about 1/4 of the way across my windshield yesterday.

Anyone have any recommendations on good places to use for windshield replacement? (I hear repair is only possible if the crack is a few inches or less). Thanks in advance!

When we needed a new WS we called our local Subie dealership (I know, how naive of us). They referred us to a local auto glass guy who does nothing but windshields. He used an aftermarket part, but did a great job.

It would be useful to know ‘generally’ what area of town you are in.. and which town..

Folks at the my old enthusiast club pretty much said the same thing…Get a windshield made by PPG. Safelite sucks, and so do the cheap windshields from China.

Call your insurance co for a recommendation of places. Most windshield repairers are mobile, so they’ll drive to your place or your work and do it.

Normal cars will set you back about $200, which most likely you’ll pay out of pocket because chances are your deductibles are more than that…(If you have a Bentley, expect to pay $10k for a windshield)
