Participantso, just because it’s legal to get divorced, it’s still immoral, since you promised to stay together? Even if she’s beating you and cheating on you and she gains 250 lbs and is incontinent and ran up all your charge cards?

you cut your losses in spite of your promise.
same with the timeshare example. you may have “promised” to pay, but your promise wasn’t something that bound you forever in ever. it means, i will, unless things radically change, in whcih case, i won’t.
maybe davelj is more of a romantic that one might think, since when he says i do, it would ahve to be forever, since a promise is a promise, regardless of the future!

One more reason that I’m against marriage… or at least any marriage where you promise to “blah blah blah” forever…
People break promises all the time. Can’t we at least call it what it is when it happens?
