Allan,
You know what flu would say: DNFTT!
Aecetia: I’m somewhat afraid to ask what DNFTT means!
I’m also still in a state of shock after being accused of anti-Americanism by a Communist.
Hopefully, Paddy will go look up Eugene Debs and realize his leanings are a lot closer to Marx and Stalin than Jefferson or Washington. I love these organized labor types. They beat their chests and declare how “American” they are, but espouse Communist and Socialist beliefs.

Well, you won. It’s official.
Well, jeeze, Allan. That’s awfully magnanimous of you.
Whew !
Guess I can stop beating my chest and declaring how American I am now.
So, folks. As you may have heard, America’s economy is in the toilet and we are still losing more jobs every day.
General Motors, once the largest and arguably most respected corporation in the World has gone thru bankruptcy and no one knows for sure if it will ever recover.
We have just hit our largest budget and trade deficit and, well, you probably know the rest.
It took a long time to come to this point and I don’t think too many feel it will be anything but a long time to recover from it. Things looks pretty bleak and even the new Admin is having a tough time sorting it all out.
So what can we as Americans do, in some small way to help out ? By continuing to gorge on imported goods and allow our manufacturing base to decline into oblivion?
If you think that might not be the way to go for the foreseeable future, given the cards we have been dealt or dealt ourselves, then I have a teenie-tiny idea where to start.
Join me in asking Jeff Bridges, the very popular and respected celebrity, to take a stand by dumping the very successful Hyundie ads he is involved with and come back to pitch for the home team.
I realize the economic woes are not his fault. And he does have the freedom to make an honest living just like anyone else in the U.S. of A.
And, by jeepers, I really, really like the guy.
But we could really use his help right now, today, before things get worse.
This is just a very, very small step to give the controversial American auto industry a bit of a leg up, deservedly or not. Right now, it doesn’t matter why it happened; just how to fix it.
The free market is not always the only solution. It’s not protectionism. Or socialism. Or any of the other unacceptable labels. It’s just common sense.

It could be yours, a neighbor’s or a family member’s job who is at stake next.
HIE-YUN-DIE does NOT rhyme with Sunday.
Don’t allow Hyundai, Kia and Daewoo to become the next “Big 3.”

Allan: I am here honing my writing skills in hopes of landing a marketing job for GM.HYI-YUN-DIE does NOT rhyme with Sunday. Charity starts at home.
If you did land a job at GM writing marketing spills, Hyundai’s got nothing to worry about. 🙂
ok ok. That’s uncalled for.
I’m really confused. Toyota/honda is the real threat to US automotive industry. Has been for decades. Why this focus on Hyundai? Is it because Toyota/Honda is too big to fail, I mean attack?
Do you just love the actor too much?
