The Chevy Malibu is built here of a very high US parts content. The profits stay here.
Why would anyone compare a Malibu/Camry/Accord with a BMW or Audi sports sedan?
If thats what you like then go take a look at Cadillac.
So you rented a luxury sedan and it did not drive like a sports sedan so it sucks?
I stand by my statement about lame and outragious excuses made by import buyers. Its comical really.
Just admit that you WANT a foriegn car and we can respect that, but these lame excuses are growing old.

I’ve stayed out of this thread because I’m not that interested in who Jeff Bridges pimps for. Nor am I interested in the labels on cars – since it truly is a global economy when it comes to cars… parts from everywhere, “US” brands assembled in other countries, “foreign” brands assembled in the US.But I have to say – I’m taken aback by your obsession. There are several spots in this very long thread where you have 3-4 posts in a row – JUST YOU.
What are you hoping to accomplish by arguing loudly on a thread that you are contributing probably 70% of the posts?
Like I said, I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the buy American thing. I just wonder what you’re hoping to accomplish and wonder who you’re trying to convince…

You’re right, Malibu/Camry/Accord should be compared to 3-series/A4/C-class. They’re totally different cars for different purposes.[quote=Rt.66]So you rented a luxury sedan and it did not drive like a sports sedan so it sucks?

The Mercury Mariner is a entry level luxury CUV, same with the RX300. Neither one of them are sporty. The RX300 is as far from sporty as you can get. It rides very smooth though.People don’t have to make excuses for their purchase. They bought a certain vehicle because that vehicle fits their criterias. Reputation for reliability is one of them, same with past experiences. I know people who would only buy Camry because their past Camry hold up very well. I also know someone who would only buy a Dodge Caravan because their past experiences said it’s a great car, although it doesn’t do too well in comparison tests.
It took Hyundai over 10 years to shed their image of cheap cars. You can’t expect GM to change people’s perception of them over night. Face it, it’s a long hard fight to get back the customers they lost. They have to release great products after great products to win back their customers. There’s no free lunch here. Ford seems to get it w/ their new products, that’s why they’re not asking for a bail out.
