That’s a doozy.
dba:
I focus on Hyundai so maybe I can actually get something positive done rather than just sit and complain about everyone, everything and who is to blame.
You should try it. π
It doesn’t matter any longer who / what is to blame for the crisis we are in. It’s time to actually do something about it.
I refuse to sit back this time around and see the Koreans take advantage of our stupidity like the Japanese were able to do in the 70’s.
I totally and absolutely believe in what I am trying to do and will not be swayed because a handful of complainers enjoy wasting their time throwing rocks at me.
Focused like a laser beam and steady as she goes.
Please take a few moments to join me in respectfully asking Jeff Bridges to deep six the undermining Hyundai ads and support the team that has supported him.
Go here and make yourself heard.

You might just make a positive difference. What do you have to lose but a few moments of your time ?
Paddy: Couple of things here. First, you learn from the past. Simple as that. If mistakes were made in the past, you correct them and move on. If you did things well, you build on that success and incorporate that into your “corporate intelligence”.
The reason that Scarlet doesn’t want to talk about the past is because the past provides an instructive look at how organized labor from the mid- to late-1950s forward destroyed America’s auto industry. This fact is without dispute and has been covered in books, case studies (including some excellent ones from Harvard Business School) and countless articles.
Her attempting to cover up the Big 3 legacy costs as being nothing more than “healthcare” and “pensions” is disingenuous, to say the least. The fact is that these legacy costs are a direct result of the “30 and Out” union contracts that were negotiated during the Big 3 heyday. It’s also beyond dispute that these negotiations were, in essence, forced down the throats of GM, Mopar and Ford and that the US government was complicit in so doing.
Neither you nor Scarlet will take on these points, nor will you either of you brook any discussion that involves criticizing organized labor or unions. It would be interesting to get your take on the steady decline in union membership in the US and the facts behind this decline, as well as either of your feelings on how both the AFL-CIO and UAW sold out their members by allowing thousands of jobs to be outsourced by the auto makers to places like Mexico, Indonesia and Canada and did so without “firing a shot” at GM, Mopar or Ford. This outsourcing has been going on since the 1970s and predates many of the US policies on manufacturing that both you and Scarlet lament so loudly.
If you really want to see Scarlet get schooled (more, that is, than she already was) I would posit three questions for her:
1. What were/are the consequences of the “30 and Out” policy on Big 3 competitiveness and what was organized labor’s response to third party (objective) studies showing how expensive this policy was as early as the 1970s,
2. What was the comparative cost of domestic/US labor versus Japanese (domestic Japan) labor in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s (AFL-CIO and UAW both maintain this information and it’s readily available),
3. Why does Scarlet only use union trade journals for her “facts”? (This is a little like someone using “Pravda” as an explanation for why the Cold War took place). There are literally hundreds of articles, books and case studies dissecting the Big 3’s decline in minute detail, yet Scarlet only uses AFL-CIO and UAW trade pubs as her sources. Why the bias?
I’d be curious to see if she responds. I doubt she will.
My next question for you, Paddy Me Boyo, is how many people have actually logged on to Bridges’ website and posted?

Allan:
Scarlet/Rt.66 slam-dunked, de-bunked, and out-funked you and Flu’s lame arguments throughout these 7 pages hands down. No bones about it.
Time out. You and Flu lose. Go back and read the proof.
Why are you two still here ?
I hope you realize you are on the wrong side of things in this forum and take the time to politely ask Jeff Bridges to resign from the Hyundai ads and resume work for the good guys.

I truly cannot believe you are back here Allan.
You said you were done two pages ago. Do I have to send that admission to you AGAIN ?
I honestly do not want to get into a name calling thing here. I am trying to focus on getting something positive done.
But, you appear to be a self-serving windbag who likes to hear himself talk, and talk, and talk, and talk…..and you never say anything coherent.
Scarlet/ Rt 66 stuffed you BAD and it’s time for you to move on.
Sorry. I don’t know how else to put it.
Close your yap for 10 minutes and actually do something that might make a difference in our sad situation here in America.
Respectfully ask Jeff Bridges to dump the Hyundai voice-overs and come back to the home team.
