Participant

I’m a white boy from the Midwest. Every minority that works in my office was far less “disadvantaged” than I was growing up.
[…]
Is your midwestern upbringing really a comparison to generations of abuse slaves suffered and the discrimination post slavery?
[More stuff about slavery …]
Actually none of the minorities in my office are black, so slavery has nothing to do with it.
But don’t let that stop you from passing judgment based upon generalities and assumptions. It’s all in the spirit of affirmative action.
The topics of slavery and affirmative action were proffered and rebuked by you without information about the ethnic backgrounds of your colleagues who being non-black probably haven’t been part of American Slavery. You could have just answered the question. You are not very qualified to opine about conditions resultant from slavery based on your midwestern white boy existence.

I said that I have never advocated that position because I, as an Asian American, am fully aware of what happened to the Japanese Americans in World War II and because of that I would never advocate that position.
I will be the first in line to defend anybody, especially muslims, if they will stand up with us Americans and fight the jihadists. If they believe in our core principles and fight with us, I will be more than happy to fight by their side.
However, that doesn’t make me blind to the things that the jihadists are saying. How do you expect to fight the jihadists if you don’t even understand them? When an attack occurs, the idea that their religious doctrine could be behind their attack is instantly dismissed. Is that the way to properly understand the motivations of people who want to attack us?
It would help if we could understand these facts instead of calling each other names and bigots. Once you do that, you can’t have a proper discussion.
Right dan?

Yes, simply because of my race, I do not have the mental capacity to understand American history.
And silly me thought that that racism was a thing of the past…
