It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.

Oops must be getting too much egg on his face from that one.
Maybe the park rally will be next?
If you’re blind to actual facts, that would be egg on Obama’s face. In reality, it’s a perfect example of the way the Republicans have abandoned their responsibilities to make the government work. Congress was were warned what would happen if they didn’t pass a continuing resolution. They didn’t pass one. It happened.

Why should they negotiate with terrorists?
They already negotiated. The republicans backed out of the deal. Would you continue to negotiate with someone who has repeatedly shown that they will not negotiate in good faith?
Even the sounds bites aren’t playing very well. Polls show favorables for republicans in congress are now lower than that of toe fungus.

I’m the problem? Not congressional republicans who made a deal and backed out of it? Not congressional republicans who hold the nation hostage because they can’t their way? Not congressional republicans who have tried and failed to repeal a law they don’t like more than 30 times, and now shut down the government and keep veterans out of war memorials and keep widows from getting their benefits because the rest of congress and the administration don’t agree with them?.
Yeah, I’m the problem.
Sound bites aren’t action.

You and people thinking like are the problem. You bandy terrorists about, think anyone disagreeing with you is a hick, or redneck, or hater. A terrorist.
Afraid to use the n-word?

Right. If only republicans in congress weren’t insulted, they’d behave like grown men instead of belligerent children. I’m sure that would work out well.
October 9, 2013 at 3:47 PM #766600FlyerInHiGuest
Of course one you start talking about lines items to cut or taxes to increase nobody likes what it would take to actually balance a budget.
Well, if the message of austerity resonates with voters, they will give the Republicans the presidency next time around. Let them run on cutting entitlements.
If you want to cut entitlements, go ahead delineate what you want. Why claim that you want to negotiate but you want the other party to give a list of concessions first.
What I don’t like is blatant intellectual dishonesty. This is what this shutdown and debt ceiling crisis is all about.
I think that the democratic process is at stake here. Keep in mind that, in the future, that same kind of shutdown tactic could be employed against a Republican president.

Yes, I’m sure Obama was directly involved in both of those decisions. He was probably involved in the decision on whether or not to shut down each and every one of the other roughly 60 national parks too. Went down the list one by one. Probably did the same with each of the thousands of federal expenditures each day. He’s a busy guy. But not too busy to piss off veterans and show support for illegal aliens.

October 9, 2013 at 6:31 PM #766615SD RealtorParticipantUmmm….. seeing that Pelosi actually thanked him for the use of the National Mall for the rally I actually believe he did know about it and okayed it. Especially since the rally didn’t just appear overnight.

I know that was widely reported. Funny thing though, it seems it’s the only speech anyone’s given in the last few years that nobody seems to have recorded. And in the transcription of her speech, there is no mention of thanking Obama. Maybe it happened. Would seem there should be some evidence of it.
October 9, 2013 at 7:59 PM #766625SD RealtorParticipantSo let’s see… the event has not just randomly come up, it has been planned for quite awhile. Lets see…perhaps it makes sense to allow a rally that supports one of the key items he has pledged to support. One that is supported by millions, actually tens of millions of potential voters. Then there is barricading vets, which of course I don’t believe he cared about one way or another. I agree he had no hand in that.
Like I said, the shutdown is selective. This rally was important to his voters… the vets… not so much.
